Why 10 minutes of daily mobility work isn’t about "getting more flexible"
Mobility work gets filed under "nice to have" because it’s framed as flexibility training. The actual case for it is about joint integrity and injury prevention over the years you spend training hard — a very different, much harder-to-ignore argument.

The actual research case for a daily mobility practice has almost nothing to do with flexibility as an end in itself, and a lot to do with what happens to joints subjected to years of heavy, repeated loading.
What full-range mobility work is actually protecting
Behm and colleagues’ 2016 review found that around 10 minutes daily of full-range mobility work preserves joint integrity, improves recovery between hard sessions, and measurably reduces injury rates in athletes who train with real intensity. The mechanism is not "being bendier" — it is maintaining the full available range of motion at a joint under load, so a compound lift, a change of direction, or an awkward moment doesn’t ask a stiff, undertrained end-range to suddenly do real work.
Why this matters more as training intensity goes up, not down
The people who benefit most from a genuine daily mobility habit are not sedentary beginners — they are people already training hard, repeatedly loading the same joints in the same patterns week after week. A squat, bench and deadlift routine done for years, without any counterbalancing mobility work, tends to compress usable range of motion over time, quietly raising injury risk exactly as the working weights climb.
Mobility work is not the opposite of lifting heavy. It is what keeps lifting heavy sustainable for another five years.
How it differs from the pre-set warm-up ramp
